Cubes!

I've been trying to figure out how to embroid a cube....without actually having to sew because I seem to have the touch of death when it comes to machines and thread. However I may now have a soloution; after scooting around on the internet and looking rather jealously at the work of Tilleke Shwartz I have discovered a dissolvable fabric....BOO-YEAH. Admittedly this does not solve my sewing problem but at least I get to feel like a mad scientist.

Cubey net thing up there.

I just loved the super neat whimsical images combined with the mad kind of slap-dash composition.

Brad Holland

I've recently been given a new brief that requires me to look at the use of colour as a method to communicate with. After doing a bit of web browsing I went back to my notes and discovered Brad Holland; an American self-taught artist most famous for his contributions to such magazines as 'Playboy' and 'The New Yorker' among other titles.

I particularly loved the soft warm tones that seem to 'pop' out of his work adding further animation or visual interest to an already cleverly composed image. His style of painting also seems to really highlight the textures and tones of his subjects giving them a definitive sense of character.
